Introduction

The Science Technology and Innovation (STI) Statistics refers to measurement and monitoring of scientific ecosystem and its impact. The STI Statistics includes data collection, analysis and dissemination of the data and indicators. STI indicators help in gaining detailed understanding about the STI ecosystem and its socio-economic impact.

The National Initiative on Science, Technology and Innovation Statistics (NISTIS) has been launched as a one-stop coordinated effort to build a robust STI Statistics ecosystem. Currently, India’s STI system is fragmented and is faced with challenges such as accessibility, availability, reliability and international comparability of data and indicators.
