Introduction
Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers transformative opportunities to complement human intelligence and enhance how we live and work. With its vast and growing range of applications, AI and machine learning are now deeply embedded in nearly every facet of modern technology.
In 2018, the Government of India launched the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, focusing on sector- specific applications and laying the foundation for AI-led transformation. In October 2018, AI was also identified as one of the missions in the PM-STIAC meeting.
Objectives
To deploy intelligent systems in a variety of decision-making tasks and enable better connectivity and enhance productivity
To use intelligent systems with a focus on addressing India’s societal needs across areas like healthcare, education, agriculture, smart cities, infrastructure, and mobility
To create new knowledge and develop new applications of intelligent systems
