Dr. Chitra Rajagopal is a distinguished Indian scientist and leader in chemical engineering, process safety, and clean energy systems. She served as Distinguished Scientist and Director General (Resources & Management) at DRDO until 2020, alongside roles as Director General of Systems Analysis and Modeling and Life Sciences. She was also Director of the Centre for Fire, Explosive & Environment Safety (CFEES), where she played a pivotal role in its establishment and growth. More recently, she led the Centre of Excellence in Process Safety and Risk Management at IIT Delhi until 2024.
With deep expertise in hydrogen safety, risk assessment, and sustainable technologies, Dr. Rajagopal actively contributes to national and international hydrogen initiatives, including the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
