Dr. Sruthi Kalyani

Policy Fellow

Dr. Sruthi Kalyani is a Policy Fellow with the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, in the Policy Analytics and Insights Unit. She holds a PhD in Chinese Studies from the Centre for East Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where her research examined the policies and institutional actors shaping China’s artificial intelligence ecosystem.

Her research interests include emerging technologies in international affairs, human rights and technology governance, and Science and Technology Studies in Asian contexts. Previously, she served as a Senior Research Officer at the Centre for National Security Studies, Bengaluru, where she headed the Emerging and Deep Technologies Division. Her work has engaged with issues of technological sovereignty, cyber/AI governance, and the strategic implications of dual-use technologies. Prior to her work in technology policy, she worked in the fintech sector as a Business Intelligence engineer, developing expertise in data analytics and evidence-based decision-making.
