overview

Under the BRIC-NIPGR flagship project, NIPGR, New Delhi, and ICAR-IIRR, Hyderabad have jointly identified a genetic locus responsible for sheath blight tolerance in rice and successfully introgressed it into high-yielding varieties DRR Dhan and Swarna. These resistant rice lines, now under multi-location trials, promise significant yield protection and economic savings.
