SAATVIK is an improved desi chickpea variety developed by introgressing a superior drought-tolerance allele of a basic helix-loop-helix gene from a landrace into the popular JAKI 9218 variety. It delivers 15% higher yield under drought stress by modulating ABA signalling and enhancing photosynthetic efficiency.
