A Raman spectroscopy–based technology has been developed to rapidly estimate piperine content in black pepper (Piper nigrum). The portable spectrometer enables non-destructive, field-level quality assessment by detecting molecular fingerprints at a 785 nm wavelength. Developed jointly by IBSD, Imphal, and Jadavpur University, it supports quality control and standardization in the spice industry.
