Improved agro-technology of Vetiver (Chrysopogon zizanoides)

Vetiver (Khus) is cultivated for high-value essential oil used in perfumes, soaps, and cosmetics. CSIR-CIMAP has developed high-yielding varieties and improved processing technologies. Cultivation offers additional income through intercropping with wheat or menthol mint. Post-harvest support, including distillation, marketing, and value addition, enhances profitability, with net returns of ₹1,05,000–1,25,000/ha.
