Palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii) is a perennial aromatic grass cultivated for essential oil from leaves, flowering tops, and above-ground parts, used in perfumery, cosmetics, and flavor industries. CSIR-CIMAP has developed high-yielding varieties and quality seeds, yielding 100-125 kg oil/ha under irrigated conditions, with high returns.
