ANTI- TARNISHING LACQUER FOR SILVER AND COPPER BASED ALLOYS

overview

CSIR-NML developed an anti-tarnishing lacquer for copper alloys and silver that prevents blackening and corrosion. Durable and nontoxic, it resists water, acids, and alkalis. The coating passes 500 hours of salt spray test (ASTM B 117) and 72 hours of flower of sulfur test (ASTM B 809). Technical guidance on application, quality control, and efficiency evaluation is provided.
