Webinar: Growth vs Sustainability: Can EVs achieve both? by The Indus Entrepreneurs

The Office of Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India is facilitating the Webinar: Growth vs Sustainability: Can EVs achieve both? by The Indus Entrepreneurs

One of the biggest factors contributing to the growing clamor for electric vehicles is their environmental friendliness. In a developing economy like India, which houses some of the most polluted cities in the world, the need for cleaner transportation is driving the rapid adoption of e- mobility. However, it requires a closer look to see if the entire value chain of EVs is ‘sustainable’ in a true sense. With a large share of electricity powering the vehicles being coal-based, and limited adoption of sustainable practices in the mining of rear materials and battery production, EVs still have a significant negative impact on the environment.

E-mobility has been seeing rapid growth in recent years and India is estimated to have 10 million EVs on the road by 2030. As the country sets ambitious targets for EV adoption, environmental and social risks plaguing the value chain pose serious challenges to India's sustainability goals. These challenges need to be addressed as we set up the local EV value chain and aim to achieve both growth and sustainability.

To learn more on the topic, TiE Delhi-NCR in Knowledge partnership with Arthur D. Little is organizing an informative webinar that would include a detailed presentation on the latest view on moving towards a sustainable value chain for EVs in India.

The webinar is being conducted on the 25th of January 2023, 11am - 12pm
