Inviting Applications for the NCPEDP- Mphasis Universal Design Awards

The Office of Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India is facilitating the 13th edition of NCPEDP- Mphasis Universal Design Awards that recognise exemplary and innovative work towards improved accessibility for persons with disabilities.


The National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) is a non-profit voluntary organization founded in 1996 working as an interface between various stakeholders - Government, Industry, and Civil Society Organisations (both national and international) for the empowerment of persons with disabilities. 

About NCPEDP- Mphasis Universal Design Awards:

To recognize exemplary and innovative work towards improved accessibility for persons with disabilities, incorporating principles of Universal Design, NCPEDP with the support of Mphasis launched the ‘NCPEDP-Mphasis Universal Design Awards’ in 2010.

The Award is given in four categories: Category A, B, and C are given to Persons with Disabilities, Working Professionals, and Companies/ Organisations respectively. The fourth category of Award was instituted in the year 2018 in memory of the late Mr. Javed Abidi and seeks to recognize advocacy efforts to promote accessibility and the Principle of Universal Design.

The Awards cover accessibility in the following fields:
1.   Built Environment
2.  Transport
3.  Information and Communication Technology
4.  Services
5.  Aids and Appliances
6.  Advocacy and Public Policy

The last date for sending nominations is the August 10, 2022.
