•    Development of the Advanced Ultra Supercritical (AUSC) technology for coal-based thermal power generation
•    Setting up of the Core Advisory Group for R&D in the Electronics Hardware (CAREL)
•    Creation of RuTAG (Rural Technology Action Groups)
•    Establishment of SETS (Society for Electronic Transactions and Security) headquartered in Chennai

Profile:

1. Received Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore In 1962

2. Joined the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in 1962

3. Appointed Director at BARC in 1990, where he started the supercomputer programme

4. Served as Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission of India from 1993-2000 and led the team of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE)

5. Served as Chairperson of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from 1994-95

6. Served as Vice-President of the Executive Committee of the International Union of Crystallography Between 1990 and 1999

7. Selected as a Member of the Commission of Eminent Persons appointed by the IAEA in 2008

8. Served as Chairman of the High-Level Committee for the National Knowledge Network between 2008-2018

9. Currently, DAE Homi Bhabha Chair Professor at BARC, Mumbai

10. Has published more than 200 research publications in peer-reviewed journals
