Call for proposals "Introduction of Dry-Drilling System in Bolter in Continuous Miner Pan” by the Ministry of Coal

The Office of Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India is facilitating a call for proposals " Introduction of Dry-Drilling System in Bolter in Continuous Miner Pan” by the Ministry of Coal.

Use of Continuous Miners (CM) for Production of coal from underground mines is a popular method presently in Indian coal industry. During production with CM, roof has to be supported with roof bolts which require drilling in roof strata. Presently, excessive water is required for bolter used in CM panels due to which excessive humidity is witnessed in underground mine environment when its occurs along with high temperature resulting in discomfort for the workers working in that panel. Also, roadways in mine experience problems in moving men and machinery due to this excessive water. Hence, it is required to control the thermal environment in mines which is generally very hot and humid for which dry drilling system is required to be developed.

Objective: To provide solution for controlling thermal environment in underground mines through dry drilling techniques in continuous miner panels.

Expected Outcomes: A suitable & pleasant environment is to be created in continuous miner panels in underground mines so that the working personnel can work their comfortably

Interested applicants can submit their proposal to analyse Poshan Abhiyan data for predictive and pattern modelling using AI/ML.
