The Office of Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India pays tribute to one of the finest, most gifted, and extraordinary mathematicians of all times, Srinivasa Ramanujan, on his 133rd birth anniversary, also celebrated as National Mathematics Day in India.
Ramanujan’s exemplary contributions are in the fields of elliptic functions, continued fractions, infinite series, and analytical theory of numbers. It is a matter of great inspiration, and pride, for us that mathematicians across the world continue to study his various unpublished papers.
2020 marks the death centenary of Ramanujan and India is celebrating the rich legacy of this globally renowned mathematical genius, “the man who knew infinity”, through the Ramanujan Yatra.
