Innovation by Defense Excellence (iDEX) has recently announced results of its innovation challenge “Defence India Startup Challenge (DISC)- Open Challenge”. iDEX was launched by the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in April 2018 to achieve self-reliance and foster innovation and technology development in Defence and Aerospace sectors.  iDEX framework is being implemented by Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO) and engages industries including MSMEs, startups, individual innovators, R&D institutes and academia and provide them grants/funding and other support to carry out R&D which has good potential for future adoption for Indian defence and aerospace needs.

About iDEX DISC Open Challenges:

The iDEX Open Challenge intends to create opportunities for innovators to propose ways for harnessing their technology capabilities to strengthen our nation’s military superiority. India is witnessing the rise of the next generation of Engineers, capable of developing technologies in autonomous systems, intelligent machines, advanced materials, predictive algorithms, or even rocket engines, for the most sophisticated applications in defence and aerospace domains. Through the iDEX Open Challenge facilitated by DIO and Partner Incubators, innovators, start-ups and MSMEs can now engage directly with the military to showcase their technologies. Selected applicants are offered a chance to pitch to the iDEX grand jury and qualify for grants and investments, organised periodically throughout the year.
