Call for proposals “Effective method to extract coal standing on pillars below infrastructure/developed” by the Ministry of Coal

The Office of Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India is facilitating a call for proposals “Effective method to extract coal standing on pillars below infrastructure/developed” by the Ministry of Coal.

In India, most of underground coal mines are located at shallow depth and are extensively operated by Bord and Pillar method of mining since long. Coal pillars, thus formed are being extracted by various mining method. The coalfield in India are generally located in densely populated areas. The basic challenge is to extract these coal pillars below surface structure/in-habitation. The purpose of research is to evolve cost effective suitable mining technology for extraction of standing pillars with protection of surface structures.

Objective

To find effective mining method for extraction of coal from underground mines below infrastructure/developed area with due regards to economics & safety

Expected Outcomes

The purpose of research is to evolve cost-effective suitable mining technology for the extraction of standing pillars with protection of surface structures.

Interested applicants can submit their proposal for the effective method to extract coal standing on pillars below infrastructure/developed
