Dr. Sangeeta Agarwal

Dr. Sangeeta Agarwal completed her Master’s degree from Panjab University, and PhD in Biotechnology from University of Delhi. She has more than two decades of experience working in the biotechnology sector with the government, academia, and multi-national companies. She was leading the Biosafety Support Unit in the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India as Chief Scientific Officer and led multi-disciplinary group of scientists for thorough scientific scrutiny of the Biopharma and Agriculture Biotechnology applications to strengthen the Biotechnology Regulatory Framework. She spearheaded in drafting the policy documents, guidelines and SOPs for various streams of Biotechnology including new emerging areas like Genome editing and monitoring and compliance related matters. She has received awards and recognitions from international organizations – her PhD research was recognized by the International Society for Plant Anaerobiosis and was awarded one of the three global awards. She was nominated for an award in the Out-of-Box category for establishing a collaborative project. She also received the prestigious global AgBiotechnology Achievement award for the India lab in the “Innovative Enabling Technology Category”. She has represented in scientific meetings as a member of statutory regulatory committee, or as a Panel member. She has been invited and delivered talks in national and international conferences as panellist and speaker. She has presented scientific posters and research papers on themes related with Biotechnology in India and outside the country. She has published in various high impact national and international journals with worldwide citations. She has been nominated and completed a series of leadership trainings including People Leader development series and Technology Leadership development training.
