  • Dr. Preeti Banzal is an Indian Telecommunication Services officer. Presently, she works as Adviser/ Scientist G, in the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India.
  • Dr. Banzal has close to three decades of experience working in Telecommunication Policy Making, Telecom Equipment & Networks Standard Setting, Telecom Projects Management, Project Finance, Capacity Building, and Training Management in the field of Disaster Management, Energy Conservation, Telecom Standardisation Regulatory, and Policy Issues.
  • Dr. Banzal contributed to the formulation of National Policy and sectoral Guidelines and Plans for Disaster Risk Management and was instrumental in designing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Emergency Communications in India. She is associated with the standardization of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Trustworthy and responsible AI, and Quantum Key distribution standards. She is a member of : the National Startup Advisory Council (NSAC), DPIIT , Executive Council AGNIi, Empowered Committee of National Textile Mission, Ministry of Textiles Governing Council “Additive Manufacturing based cost-effective optical computing chips (OCC), MeitY, Working Group on Photonics MeitY, Inter-ministerial Expert Committee on quantum Technologies, MeitY and Scientific Advisory Council Cyber-Physical Inter-disciplinary System , DST.
  • Dr. Banzal is currently engaged in the preparation of a road-map for R&D in e-mobility and a R&D roadmap on Zero Emission Trucking (ZET). The aim of the Roadmaps is to help India build capabilities in the next 3-5 years, to address issues related to technology adoption and also assess the commercial and operational utilities of innovation and research projects. Dr. Banzal is a Member of the Advisory Committee and chairing the working committee of the Consultative Group on e-Mobility (CGeM), Office of PSA.
  • Dr. Banzal had been regularly engaging with International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva Switzerland and the Asia Pacific Tele community (APT) in Bangkok, Thailand; as a resource person and contributor to standards. She had been appointed as Vice-Chair of the ITU-IMO-UNEP Focus Group on AI for Natural Disaster Management (AI4NDM) (December 2020 - June 2021)

Publications:Dr. Banzal has multiple publications on Communication Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and Disaster Management. She has authored a book: “Disaster Communication and Early Warning Systems” and contributed a chapter for a book with Springer.
