Introduction

The government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission, led by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs aims to process 100% solid waste including construction and demolition (C&D) waste generated in urban areas (Building Materials and Technology Promotion Council, 2018). This would ensure a clean environment and make available construction materials in short supply aiding mass housing. The ready reckoner from BMTPC also notes a considerable amount of shortage of conventional building materials in India. The Construction sector saw, in recent years, both Industry and Academia delving into the development of technologies interventions to manage C&D waste and convert this waste into useful resources.

The July session of the Innovation & Science @Bharat series will bring the following speakers from three such organizations in industry and academia to talk about their work on developing innovative solutions to manage waste in the Construction sector.
