The 3rd Ministerial meeting under the India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) concluded in Brussels on 15 July 2026 with a joint statement to strengthen cooperation in the areas of trade, trusted technology, and security. The meeting was co-chaired by Hon'ble Minister of External Affairs Dr S. Jaishankar; Hon'be Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal; and Hon'ble Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada on the Indian side. On the European side, it was co-chaired by European Commission Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy Henna Virkkunen; Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Interinstitutional Relations and Transparency Maroš Šefčovič; and Commissioner for Startups, Research, and Innovation Ekaterina Zaharieva. The Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood and Scientific Secretary Dr (Mrs.) Parvinder Maini joined these deliberations and contributed towards shaping the outcomes of the meeting. Working Group 2 on Clean and Green Technologies, co-chaired by Prof. Sood, reflected on the progress made since the 2025 India-EU TTC Ministerial. Building on the joint commitment of EUR 60 million over four years for collaborative research under Horizon Europe, both sides noted the commencement of formal negotiations with a funding of EUR 93.5 billion in research and innovation programmes. The meeting also announced the establishment of the first-ever India–EU Innovation Hub to advance electric vehicle (EV) charging technologies and testing. In addition, the BHARAT-EU and BioHAVEN projects will develop renewable hydrogen through the pyrolysis of biomethane generated from agricultural and industrial biogenic waste, while the SEATRACE and HARMONY projects will support innovative solutions to address marine pollution. The 3rd Ministerial meeting of India–EU TTC lays a strong foundation for advancing future collaborations while fostering sustainable economic growth and long-term global competitiveness.
