On the occasion of the 25th Foundation Day of the Society for Electronic Transactions and Security (SETS) on 25 June 2026, the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India reflects on the institution’s journey and contributions to strengthening India’s cybersecurity ecosystem. Conceived in 2002 by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and established under the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser, SETS has translated the vision of a cyber-resilient and digitally secure India into tangible outcomes over the past two decades. Through sustained contributions to cybersecurity research and innovation, SETS has played a pivotal role in strengthening India’s digital security ecosystem across domains such as cryptology and computing, hardware security, quantum security, and network security.
