The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (OPSA) to the Government of India organised an online workshop on Cybersecurity Awareness on 16 June 2026. The workshop was chaired by Scientific Secretary Dr (Mrs.) Parvinder Maini. Designed to strengthen cybersecurity awareness among OPSA officials, the workshop focused on cybersecurity best practices and measures that can help prevent and respond to security breaches. Dr. Maini highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by the Government of India to strengthen the country's cybersecurity posture as India continues its journey towards becoming a more inclusive and digitally interconnected society. The workshop brought together cybersecurity experts, including Dr. Rekha Saraswat of Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and Dr. R. Marshal and Mr. Kunal Sharma from CERT-In. Their sessions covered network and infrastructure security, along with tools and methodologies developed by CERT-In to identify, mitigate, and respond to cyber threats. The discussions also highlighted practical approaches to securing digital governance in the context of India’s ongoing digital transformation. Additional perspectives were shared by Dr. Rakesh Kaur, Adviser/Scientist ‘G’; Ms. Remya Haridasan, Scientist ‘E’; and Mr. Vivek Kumar, Scientist ‘D’. Ms. Remya presented key takeaways from the ‘Cybershakti training programme : Empowering Women Government Officials in Cyber Security’ conducted by C-DAC Noida in May 2026.
