A delegation from the The University of Queensland (UQ) led by Mr Peter N. Varghese AO, Chancellor, UQ, called on Dr (Mrs.) Parvinder Maini, Scientific Secretary, Office of the PSA, on 26 May 2026 to explore opportunities for expanding the joint PhD program between UQ and the Indian institutions in the domains of agriculture science and food security. Discussions focused on strengthening India–Australia collaboration in areas such as next-generation AgriTech, remote sensing, predictive agriculture, AI-enabled agriculture, and quantum sensing and computing applications for the agriculture sector. Dr Maini highlighted the potential for collaboration with India’s S&T Clusters, which bring together a strong network of academic institutions, R&D organisations, startups, and industry stakeholders working across advanced agriculture and innovation domains. The discussions also explored opportunities for engagement under the Horizon Europe and India–EU TTC frameworks, along with potential collaboration in areas such as sustainable environment and water resource management, mining engineering, and biofuels. Further, collaboration with national initiatives of the Office of PSA such as RuTAG and the सह-SANKALP mission were encouraged to support scaling of grassroots technologies, livelihood enhancement, and sustainable community-driven development.
