Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood virtually attended the inaugural function of the Quantum Reference Facility in Amaravati on 14 April 2026. The Facilities at SRM University, AP was inaugurated by Hon'ble Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu in the presence of other dignitaries. In his address, Prof. Sood extended his heartiest congratulations to the visionary leaders and stakeholders on the inauguration of the Quantum Reference Facility and laying down the pillars for national self-reliance. He highlighted the potential of quantum technologies in areas such as artificial intelligence and robotics. Prof. Sood also emphasised the need to fabricate quantum hardware to secure India's strategic autonomy and rule out technological denials in the face of rapidly changing geopolitical paradigms and scenarios. India's quantum journey and the inauguration of the Facility are significant steps towards technological sovereignty and making India Aatmnirbhar. The Quantum Reference Facility, spanning SRM University, AP (Amaravati) and Medha Towers (Gannavaram), has been established by Qbit Force, led by Dr. L. Venkata Subramaniam, a former IBM Quantum leader. At its core is QU-414, a quantum characterisation facility operated by Qubitech. Part of the Amaravati Quantum Valley initiative under the National Quantum Mission (NQM), the facility enables validation, benchmarking, and scaling of quantum technologies. It supports startups, researchers, and industry in translating advanced research into applications in secure communications, sensing, and computing.
